We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. ~Cynthia Ozick
We’re halfway through 2011 and I’ve been working on my business and marketing plans a lot. I’ve met with my business advisor and accountant, I’ve talked to countless friends and peers about myriad details. It seems like I’m editing and re-writing every sentence. I’m certain my writer friends would give me a hard time about my rounds of editing but I digress.
After all of this, I turned to my vision statement for my business and I was really surprised by what I read there. I wrote, “By offering personal, private and safe waxing services, our clients grow to trust us with their skin, their self-esteem, and their personal lives. By giving our clients a joyous sanctuary to ask intimate questions, their confidence in us grows.”
I wrote that??? Wow – I’m amazed. I surprised myself on so many levels right there. First, I didn’t think I had that big of a vision eight months ago. Then I realized that I am creating that!!! I’m actively creating the joyous sanctuary I wrote about on that first page of the business plan. My clients have grown to trust me with more than just their skin – they’ve trusted me with fear, stress, pain, love, excitement, hope, pride, embarrassment. They’ve trusted me with their stories.
I also realized that I have received those same blessings from my clients. In moving through this adventure of building a new business, my clients give me strength, insight, confidence, ideas and so much more. I am grateful for their words of encouragement. I am grateful for their confessions of life. I am so very grateful for their positive attitudes and energy.
I am grateful for what this year has brought so far and I’m excited for the rest of 2011. It’s going to be fun and I hope that I can continue earning the trust and confidence of my clients.
